From hand-made pottery bowls to massive planters – form and function both matter.
Here at Mark Hewitt Pottery, we’d like to help you make your Greensboro, North Carolina home as pleasant and beautiful as you wish it to be. One easy way to add charm and character to your space is to add hand-made pottery bowls, either for display or daily use. From cereal or ice cream bowls to serving bowls and wall platters, you can find the perfect piece for display and/or function at our pottery showroom. Mark has been making one-of-a-kind pottery pieces since the late 1970s, and his experience and dedication to his craft makes each one a masterpiece to be treasured.
Mark uses a blend of clays from the North & South Carolina that gives each piece a unique character and connects the pieces to the community and its geology. In addition, Mark draws on a variety of local folk traditions to create a unique contemporary style while still reflecting the Southern folk pottery traditions. The interplay of form and function is reflected in Mark’s work. Mark is known for his very large planters, sentinels, and jars, that show that commitment to exquisite form, while remaining functional, even if that function is as a decorative art object.
His smaller pottery bowls are meant to be used, not merely admired, and they make a wonderful, functional addition to any collection. The larger serving bowls make a stunning statement on any counter or table.
We are proud to serve this area, and we want to continue to make pottery that’s connected to its history and community.
